Sidamo Coffee

Sidama is in the south of Ethiopia and encompasses several other zones (locally known as woredas). The coffee is sold under the name “Sidamo.” The altitude of Sidamo region is 1,700-2,200 meters above sea level which created profound complexity of taste. The coffee farmers of Sidama grow their unique varieties on small land parcels and deliver their produce to processing sites. This results in a unique mixture of “mixed heirloom” a distinct flavor of Sidamo coffee.

Bolota Boro Washing Station Site

Bolota Boro Site is situated in Sidama regional state Bensa Zone, Hoko District, Welle Kebele in 1,950 – 2,030 meters above sea level. This site is named after the river that is used to wash the cherries. With 150 registered coffee farmers, we produce 202 Tons of high quality Sidama A Grade 1-2 coffee on this site. The coffee produced in this site is recognized for its distinct flavor, aroma, and balanced acidity in the cup.

Hoko is a woreda located in Bensa, Sidama Region, Ethiopia. The Farmers deliver ripe cherries to Bolota Boro Site every day during the harvest season. At the washing station, coffee is carefully sorted, pulped and then washed. The wet beans in parchment are placed on raised drying beds in thin layers and turned every 2 to 3 hours during the first few days of the drying process. Abel Tsegaye, the site’s strategic partner, has vast number of years of experience. The Site Strategic Partner manages all operations. Bolota Boro produces both washed and natural coffees.

Harechafa Washing Station Site

Harechafa Site is situated in Sidama regional state Bensa Zone, Aroresa District, Kenefe Junura kebele in 1,900-2,000 meters above sea level. The river that is used to wash the cherries is called. With 186 registered coffee farmers, we produce 252 tons of organic high quality Sidama A Grade 1-2 coffee on this site. The coffee produced in this site is recognized for its distinct flavor, aroma, and balanced acidity in the cup.

Aroresa (pronounced “A-ro-ress-a”) originates from Ethiopia’s renowned coffee region, Sidama, in the south-east of the country. It is named after the ‘woreda’ (administrative district) of Aroresa. The site strategic partner Temesgen Abera works collaboratively with G. Global Coffee. Temesgen manages all operations at washing station. Harechafa produces both washed and natural coffees.

Elilichew Washing Station Site

Elilichew Site is stationed in Sidama regional state Bensa Zone, Chebe Gemeletu District, Tilo kebele in 1,900-2,180 meters above sea level. The river that is used to wash the cherries is called Bonra.  With 120 registered coffee farmers, we produce 201.5 tons of organic high quality Sidama A Grade 1-2 coffee on this site. The coffee produced in this site is recognized for its distinct flavor, aroma, and balanced acidity on cup.

Chebe Gemeletu hails from Sidama, Ethiopia’s renowned coffee area in the country’s south-east. It is called after Bensa woreda (administrative district). The site’s strategic partner, Abel Tsegaye, has a wealth of expertise.  All activities are overseen by the Site Strategic Partner. Both washed and natural coffees are produced in Elilichew Site.

Racha Washing Station Site

Racha Site is located in the Sidama regional state’s Bensa Zone, Hoko District, Jengelo Kebele, at an elevation of 1,930 – 2,012 meters above sea level. This location is named after the river where the cherries are washed. On this site, we produce 130 tons of organic high-quality Sidama A Grade 1-2 coffee with 115 registered coffee farmers. The coffee we make at this location is known for its distinct flavor, fragrance, and balanced acidity.

Hoko is a woreda in Ethiopia’s Sidama Region, located in Bensa. During the harvest season, the farmers transport luscious cherries to Racha Site every day. Coffee is meticulously sorted, pulped, and washed at the washing facility. During the first several days of the drying process, wet beans in parchment are placed in thin layers on raised drying beds and changed every 2 to 3 hours. Abate Argiso works with G. Global Coffee. Abate oversees all operations.

Himino Kore Washing Station Site

Himino Kore Site is situated in Sidama regional state Bensa Zone, Aroresa District, Hamraro kebele in 1,900-2,050 meters above sea level. The river that is used to wash the cherries is called Kore.  With 186 registered coffee farmers, we produce 252 tons of organic high quality Sidama A Grade 1-2 coffee on this site. The coffee we produce in this site is recognized for its distinct flavor, aroma, and balanced acidity in the cup.

Duguna Washing Station Site

Duguna Site is located in the Sidama regional state’s Chiri Belo Zone, Chiri District, Tanratu Kebele, at an elevation of 1,850 – 2,000 meters above sea level. On this site, we produce 230 tons of organic high-quality Sidama A Grade 1-2 coffee with 165 registered coffee farmers. The coffee we make at this location is known for its distinct flavor, fragrance, and balanced acidity.

Chiri originates from the Sidama coffee growing region in the eastern part of the in Ethiopia’s Sidama regional state, in the ‘kebele’ (local village) of Tanratu. It is named after the ‘woreda’ (administrative division) that is located in: Chiri. The washing station sits at 1,900m above sea level. It is managed by the site strategic partner Wale Markos. The cherries are secured from our own 5-hectare farm that sits in elevation of 1,800–2,200 meters above sea level. In addition, 165 local farmers are contracted to supply to Duguna site.
